Meet The Midwife
I’m Sarah Talbert, a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and a Licensed Midwife (LM), working and licensed in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin. I earned my degree in Midwifery through Mercy in Action College of Midwifery. I completed my clinical training at a practice that combined birth center and home birth, where I had the privilege of apprenticing with several experienced midwives, both traditional midwives and a nurse midwife. After my apprenticeship I continued on to proved home birth services in and surrounding the metro area for the last 6 years. I continue to live in Minneapolis and provide care to families in the metro and the surrounding area up to a 1 hour radius.
I am passionate about getting to know each unique family, providing personalized and evidence based care in an intimate setting. I have a strong belief in access to education, shared decision making and choice for birthing people and their families. As a member of the queer/LGBTQ community I aim to increase access to quality healthcare for queer folx and their families and hope to create a space where not only, are all welcomed, but where all family types are honored and celebrated.
When not attending births I enjoy all things outdoors, camping, hiking, & canoeing the BWCA all with my beloved 11 year old dog in tow, who is still the best hiker in the group. I have a travel bug that is never quite satisfied which means I often take 1 or 2 trips a year to satisfy the itch, where I enjoy new foods, old architecture, conversing with locals and grueling hikes with totally worth it views. When at home I enjoy spending time with my family, socializing with friends, riding my vintage Suzuki motorcycle, fixing said motorcycle, cooking delicious meals, and curling up with a good book and a purring cat in my lap.
What clients have to say
“Sarah is friendly and caring while also being gentle and warm and not in your face, she never pressures. Her attentive and thorough assessments at all my prenatal visits and being listened to and really heard, my worry and anxiety as a first time mom was greatly reduced. She makes sure you feel comfortable with everything and explains things so you can understand to make informed decisions. She spent the hours with me during the labor and birth at my home continuing to encourage, educate and support me to have the best experience possible. She is so obviously skilled in what she does, from birthing positions and comfort measures to safety and attention to every part of the process. Even after my baby was born and the follow up care, she cared for us equally as much. I highly recommend working with Sarah and having the most person-centered care you can have. If you are looking to have an out of hospital birth for whatever your reasons are- be assured that it can be the most beautiful and empowering kind of way to bring your baby into the world and Sarah will make sure you are safe and feel heard, guiding you to do what she knows you and your body CAN do.” - H
“We have absolutely loved working with Sarah throughout both of my pregnancies. Our first was in the height of the pandemic after transferring out of the care of our OB. After our consultation with her, I knew we had made the right decision for us. She was such a calming and supportive addition to our birth team. She went above and beyond with both of our birthing experiences, including staying with me for hours in the hospital when our youngest unexpectedly arrived five weeks early. Her compassion, expertise and guidance has been invaluable. We are truly grateful for having had her by our side.” -H
